Rock and Pop day November 2024

Published Thursday 28 November 2024

On Tuesday 26th November 2024, the Music Service ran another successful Rock & Pop Day at the Kensington Arts Centre. Two Rock Groups were formed with pupils from a variety of Secondary Schools across the Island and were given the opportunity to work together for the whole-day as a group; and had to work together to overcome and solve all of the challenges that working so closely focused and intensely brings. At the end of the day, students performed their work to each other as well as to a live audience that same evening at the Music Service’s Young Musician’s Concert (YMF). From the feedback we have received from the ‘pupil voice’ questionnaire, that students were asked to fill-in at the end of the day, all students mentioned that they had learnt lots of new skills and expressed how much they had enjoyed the opportunity to work with other pupils they did not know. Working as part of a group and as a group has many challenges, but it was fantastic to see all of the young people thrive and be so creative in their critical thinking, solving problems and reasoning skills.

Well done everyone who took part, pupils and staff alike.

We cannot wait for the next one, bring it on!
