The Isle of Man Music Service supports, complements and enriches the music curriculum offered by schools. As well as teaching musical skills it aims to develop qualities such as confidence, self-discipline and self-criticism and help pupils to understand the importance of reliability and teamwork through their music-making. It works closely with schools, colleges and music groups on the Island, such as the Isle of Man Symphony Orchestra, Isle of Man Wind Orchestra and Isle of Man Choral Society. Many past pupils of the Music Service make up the rich cultural fabric of the Isle of Man's bands, orchestras and choirs with some going on to have national and international musical careers.
To inspire, empower and provide musical opportunities that support all young people. In striving for excellence, we aim to be a forward thinking, inclusive and nurturing organisation which enables everyone to achieve; enriching the lives of the community within the Isle of Man.
Our mission is to provide a comprehensive and inclusive music education programme that offers instrumental and vocal teaching, musical ensembles, and special provision support to all levels of musicians, from beginner to an advanced standard. We aim to inspire and encourage lifelong learning, promoting success and achievement among our music pupils. Our dedicated team of highly qualified teachers serve as positive role models, empowering all students to reach their full musical potential.
We support GCSE and A Level studies while our Whole Class Ensemble Teaching programmes provide the opportunity to play an instrument, ensuring that every student has access to the transformative power of music.
