Tender Invitation: Annual Tuning and Maintenance Contract
September 2026 – July 2027


Applications are invited to tender for the annual tuning and maintenance of upright and grand pianos for the 2026–2027 school year.

There are approximately 69 acoustic pianos across the Department’s primary schools, secondary schools, and Music Centre (this number may vary slightly each year). Each instrument requires two tunings annually, with a third occasionally required in special circumstances.

Please include the information outlined below in your submission. If successful, you will be required to provide original certification documents. Please note that travel expenses are not covered.

Information Required in Your Expression of Interest

1. Value

  • Unit cost per tuning (excluding VAT)
  • Any discount for the full contract
  • Schedule of repair charges, including basic parts (e.g. string replacement)

2. Quality

  • Confirmation of sufficient qualified staff*
  • Confirmation of appropriate transport arrangements*
  • Ability to offer flexible scheduling and prompt service
  • Capacity to carry out repairs and supply parts efficiently
  • Compliance with Isle of Man Control of Employment legislation*

3. Qualifications

  • Valid liability insurance*
  • Safeguarding training
  • Registration with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)*

  • Piano tuning qualification certificate
  • Driving licence
  • Work permit (if applicable)
  • Liability insurance certificate
  • DBS certificate
