Some of the woodwind students took part in a masterclass today delivered by Robert Plane. Robert is Head of Woodwind performance at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and had been performing in Port Erin with Ensemble 360 on Thursday evening.
Robert worked with the students on their performances, giving tips on sections of their pieces and performance tips. Students in the audience were also involved in breathing techniques and were asking questions and also giving feedback to the performers.
We had lots of useful discussions about breathing, communication with the audience, posture and productive and efficient practice techniques. Robert also talked about his musical experiences to inspire the students on their musical journeys.
Well done to the performers who took part in showcasing their pieces and working with Robert but also the other students who were listening well in the audience. Thank you to Steve Daykin from KWC for accompanying our pupils on the piano all morning and providing the masterclass venue.
Mrs Galka and Mrs Singleton had a great morning and are proud of all the students who attended
