About the Orchestra
The Manx Youth Orchestra (MYO) has been inspiring young musicians since 1971, providing opportunities for orchestral playing, musical development and unforgettable performance experiences.
Each week, over 200 students come together to rehearse in a supportive and ambitious environment, building confidence, teamwork and high-level musical skills.
Who Can Join?
The orchestra is open to students who have reached approximately Grade 1 standard or above on an orchestral instrument or percussion.
As players progress, they move through different ensembles within the MYO programme, gaining experience across a range of musical styles and group settings.
Rehearsal Details
- Day: Saturday 10am - 12.30pm (term time)
- Location: St Ninian’s Lower School IM3 3AR
- Structure: Multiple ensembles based on ability and experience
Performance & Opportunities
MYO members take part in concerts, workshops and special events throughout the year, with opportunities to perform in a wide range of venues across the Island.
The orchestra has also toured internationally, giving students the chance to perform abroad and experience different cultures through music.

How to Join
Students are invited to join MYO through their instrumental teacher as they reach the appropriate level. If your child learns an orchestral instrument but does not learn with the Music Service, they may still be eligible to join. Please contact the Music Service for further information.
