Manx Youth Guitar Ensemble Southern Tour

Published Thursday 9 May 2024

Manx Youth Guitar Ensemble Tour of Southern Primary Schools

On Friday, 3rd May 2024 the Manx Youth Guitar Ensemble (MYGE) were on Tour of 3 Southern Primary Schools which were Rushen, Port St Mary and Victoria Road. The MYGE performed in a range of styles and the pieces included: Seven Nation Army, Romanza, Bring Him Home and The Peter Gunn Theme.

After arriving by coach, we were greeted by an enthusiastic audience at each school who also participated in Samba Rhythm Call & Response who also conducting. Some of the pupils had the opportunity to conduct the MYGE themselves!

The schools were very grateful that we spent time performing to their teachers and pupils and here are just some highlights from the feedback that we received back from the schools that we visited.

“We loved it.

The little ones got a bit wriggly towards the end so maybe 5-10 minutes shorter.

But the variety of songs and the quality of playing was phenomenal and the children loved it.”

“Thank you for bringing the ensemble to perform for us. The children really enjoyed hearing the pieces and the chance to join in with the musical games.

The general feedback from staff was ‘we all thought it was great’.

Well done to all the staff and pupils.”

The pupils that attended the Tour were an outstanding credit to the Music Service and were true Role Models for the younger pupils that witnessed them perform.

Current feedback form the MYGE pupils themselves is that they loved the whole experience.
