Brass Success at the Guild 2024

Published Thursday 2 May 2024

Brass Success at the Guild

It was a busy week for many of our brass students performing in the Manx Music Festival - Many performed in Sunday's brass band classes whilst Saturday saw ensemble and solo performances throughout the day.

Many congratulations to Will Gerrard of St Ninians Lower School who won the brass solo years 7-8 on his trombone. In the years 9-1- category Matthew Coates of Castle Rushen High School took second place, again on his trombone.

The Senior class (years 11 - 13) was won by Estelle Oke of CRHS playing trombone, whilst Laoise Williams, again from CRHS, came joint second performing on her cornet.

To top off an excellent day for Castle Rushen High School, the School Brass Band Ensemble came second in the Open Brass Ensemble class, only 1 point behind Championship section brass band quintet Manx Concert Brass.
